West Coast Van Life & SUV Camping Parking Spots // Where We Camped In 2021

Finding places to stay overnight in your vehicle can take a lot of time, effort and money if you don’t know where to look or even how to start looking. We’d like to help! Below is a list that compiles various parking sites along the West Coast of the United States. These spots were found through iOverlander, FreeCampsites.Net, and word of mouth.

This Google Sheet file can be viewed or downloaded for free (yes, your favorite F-word) and has exact longitude and latitude coordinates of where we’ve slept overnight during our past year of travels. We prefer using the Google Maps app as our mobile GPS service, but if you have another preferred GPS service, it should also work on that platform too. Just copy, paste, and go!

We have labeled each spot with a month and general location/county (so you can determine the time of season, its predicted weather patterns, etc.) as well as a color that represents whether it was a free or paid site. We also included small notes detailing if there were any amenities included or of tourist attractions nearby. All of these spots were accessible in our 2WD 2007 Ford Escape XLT.

KEY:

Yellow = Paid Campsite

Green = Free Campsite

Blue = Free Stealth Campsite

Red = With Host/Airbnb

DISCLAIMER: We cannot guarantee that these locations have remained open or continue to accept overnight parking. Please follow all street signs. Remember to Leave No Trace and respect any land you have the pleasure of visiting.
